A great example of garden design,
this plant combination
flaunts its autumn colors.
I happened upon this fall gem
tucked away at the rear entrance to the

Glowing golden hues of Dwarf Fothergilla (Fothergilla gardenii)
blend beautifully with
crimson Cutleaf Japanese Maple (Acer palmatum var. dissectum),
Dwarf Zebra Grass (Miscanthus sinensis 'Little Zebra') and
Fountain Grass (Pennisetum alopecuroides).

Evergreens add contrast, structure and winter presence.
The burgundy echoed in the larger Japanese Maple (Acer palmatum)
contributes an overhead canopy.

Great autumn colours to show at the entrace of the building.
Fall color is so lovely, too bad it does not last a little longer.

Glad you liked the colors.

I agree - I've been pondering on the fact that winter dormancy which resembles death is preceded by such a spectatular display.
GORGEOUS pictures of fall color!!! The Japanese maple leaves peeking in at the top corner made me realize that that is what maple leaves are supposed to look like when they are not beaten down by 100 degrees for a month or two with little to no water. I have lots of maples, but even in the shade with plenty of water they can still show signs of stress after a particularly hot summer. Oh, the abuse my poor maples endure to satisfy my desire for fall color. I just won't show them your pictures. Ignorance is bliss, right?
Hi! How colourful a garden can be without flowers! That's the only thing I like in autumn. Eszter
I think fothergillas are one of my favorite landscape plants, I'm always so happy to see them. Their fall color with those sculpted leaves can't be beat, too! Glad you found this complimentary set and photographed it!
Love the fall color and the textures, too. It's always wonderful to see commercial and public buildings with landscapes like this.
beautiful autumn colors!
My garden is just starting to show some. I hope it gets half as nice as this

The colors of autumn do help us cope with the dreary weather. This fall has been a very pleasant sunny one here in PA, though.
